Everything About The Door Itself
This section of the site is about the door — the sections, the skin, the insulation, the glass, the hardware and the brands that build them. Openers, motors and the electronics that drive them have their own section, because homeowners shop for those separately and the failure modes have almost nothing in common.
Ace Garage Door Service supplies, installs and services residential doors across New Jersey. Whether you are pricing a full replacement, matching one damaged section, or trying to work out whether an insulated door is worth the step up, the pages below go into real detail rather than repeating a brochure.

Types, Materials And How They Are Built
Construction decides almost everything else: how long the door lasts, how loud it is, how much heat it lets out and how it fails. A single-layer steel door and a triple-layer polyurethane sandwich door can look identical from the sidewalk and behave completely differently once the temperature drops or a car door swings into them.
Our types page walks through steel, wood, aluminum, glass, fiberglass and vinyl construction, plus the single, double and triple-layer builds and what each one actually delivers in a New Jersey climate.
- Steel — the default, in gauges from 24 to 27
- Wood — joinery, weight and a real refinishing schedule
- Aluminum — rust-proof frames for wide and coastal openings
- Glass — full-view daylight with pane-by-pane replacement
- Fiberglass and vinyl — composite skins built for abuse
- Insulated cores — polystyrene boards versus injected polyurethane

Styles, Panels And Windows
Style is where most homeowners start and where most regret happens. A carriage house overlay on a low ranch, or a flush contemporary door on a 1920s colonial, both read as wrong even when nobody can say why. Panel proportion, window placement and hardware scale matter more than colour.
Windows are the other decision worth slowing down for. Glazing in the top section transforms a dark garage, but single-pane inserts in an otherwise insulated door quietly undo a good chunk of the R-value you paid for.

Brands, Collections And Models
We install and service doors from every major North American manufacturer, and we do not have an exclusive arrangement with any of them. That matters when you are choosing: the honest answer is often that two brands offer effectively the same section at different price points, and the difference is lead time and finish options.
Our brand pages cover what each manufacturer actually builds, which collections belong to which construction type, and what to know before ordering a replacement section years down the line.

Hardware, Components And What Wears Out
A door is a balanced system. Springs carry the weight, cables transfer it, drums meter it, tracks guide it and rollers, hinges and bearings keep the whole thing moving without binding. When one part gives up, the parts next to it start absorbing loads they were never sized for — which is why a snapped spring so often arrives with bent top brackets and flattened rollers.
Our components page catalogues every part we stock and fit, from torsion springs and cable drums through to bottom fixtures, struts and weather seals, with plain notes on what failure looks like for each one.

Residential Doors Across New Jersey
Everything in this section is residential. We work on attached and detached garages, converted spaces, carriage barns and oversized bays from Bergen County down to the shore, and the recommendation always accounts for where the house actually is — salt air in Monmouth and Ocean counties changes the material advice, and a bedroom over the garage in Morris County changes the insulation advice.
If you already know what you want, call (888) 706-5757 and we will price it. If you do not, the pages in this section will get you a long way before anyone tries to sell you anything.
